Petri Letter to LightSquared

September 15, 2011

On September 15, 2011, Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Tom Petri wrote to LightSquared Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Sanjiv Ahuja to rebuke the company’s strategy to blame GPS users for the interference issues associated with LightSquared’s plan to employ a terrestrial network within the satellite band of radio spectrum.  Chairman Petri and the Committee intend to ensure that any plans by LightSquared do not threaten the reliability of GPS, which is critical to the safe and effective operations of the nation's aviation, maritime and other transportation systems.

Chairman Petri’s letter can be found here.
